Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you sign up, we collect your name, email address, and the organization name you provide. If you sign in with Google, we receive the basic profile information Google shares as part of that sign-in.

Content you upload. Images, PDFs, and videos you upload to display on your screens, along with how you organize and schedule them (playlists, schedules, locations).

Device information. When you pair an Android device, we store its pairing status, connection/heartbeat data, app version, and (if push notifications are enabled) a Firebase Cloud Messaging token used to notify the device of content updates.

Billing information. Payment is handled entirely by Stripe. We store which plan you're on, how many paid screens you have, and billing status (active, past due, etc.) — we never see or store your full card number.

Support and contact information. If you email us or use a contact form, we keep what you send us so we can respond and keep a record of the conversation.

Usage and log data. We keep audit logs of account activity (like device registration, user invites, and billing changes) for security and support purposes. Our marketing site (elsigno.ca) also records which campaign or link brought a visitor to the site (UTM parameters) — this is stored briefly in your browser's session storage and logged on our server; it isn't used to build an advertising profile or shared with ad networks.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information above to:

• Provide and operate the Service (create your account, display your content, process payments)
• Communicate with you (billing notices, support responses, service updates)
• Maintain security and prevent abuse
• Understand how our marketing efforts are performing (UTM tracking described above)
• Meet legal, accounting, and tax obligations

We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not use your uploaded content for anything other than displaying it back to you.

3. Who We Share Information With

We share information with the following service providers, each of which processes it on our behalf to help run the Service:

• Stripe — payment processing and billing
• Supabase — our database, authentication, and file storage provider
• Google Cloud / Firebase — hosting for our web application, and push notifications to the Android app
• Our email service provider — sending account, billing, and support emails

These providers may process or store data outside of Canada, including in the United States. We choose providers with their own strong security and privacy practices, but we don't control their infrastructure directly.

We don't share your information with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We may disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a business transfer (such as a sale of the business), in which case we'd expect any successor to honor this policy.

4. Data Retention

We keep your account information and content for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we'll delete your uploaded content and personal information within a reasonable period, except where we need to keep certain records longer for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes (for example, billing records related to tax obligations).

5. Your Choices and Rights

You can access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information at any time by contacting support@elsigno.ca. We'll respond and act on reasonable requests regardless of where you're located.

You can also manage most of your own information directly from your account dashboard — organization details, uploaded content, and device settings.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our web dashboard uses cookies necessary for you to stay signed in — these are functional, not advertising, cookies. Our marketing site uses browser session storage to remember UTM campaign parameters during your visit, as described above. We don't use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

7. Children's Privacy

El Signo is a business tool and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.

8. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including relying on the security practices of our infrastructure providers (Supabase, Google Cloud, Stripe). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll make reasonable efforts to notify active customers. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent version.
